François-Victor Bazin (1897-1956):
Born in Paris to parents of Breton origin, François-Victor Bazin was a sculptor, engraver, and medalist. After a childhood in Chile, where his father taught at the School of Fine Arts in Santiago, François-Victor Bazin returned to France in 1913 to study at the School of Decorative Arts and the National School of Fine Arts. His teachers included Navellier, Puech, and Injalbert. He was mobilized into the air force in 1916. After the war, he created numerous radiator caps, as well as large monuments in granite and bronze. His collaboration with the HB pottery factory began in 1928. He was awarded numerous prizes throughout his career. François-Victor Bazin retained his love of travel until the very end: Italy at the Villa Medici, Greece, Egypt and Madagascar.
