"Arte Povera, 5 18th Century Folding Screens, Theater Sets, Science, Music-painting, Garden"
An exceptional set of five rare large 18th-century Arte Povera panels forming a folding screen (the fabric hinges need replacing). The decorations on each panel, with their undulating tops, are particularly rich, depicting lively scenes characteristic of the mid-18th century; each scene has a different motif: - In the upper panels individually: Theatre, Science, Music and Painting, Floral Garden, Park. - In the lower panels individually: A different exotic animal scene, each time overlooking a lake with swans and gardening tools, surrounded by columns and trellises; this depiction of animals and countryside reflects the monarchy's fascination with these worlds. All panels are original, forming a five-panel folding screen, with their original varnished finish and Arte Povera motifs. The panels can also be displayed separately for other decorative purposes, such as pictures, dividers, or decorative door panels. The backs of all five panels are covered in the same small-checkered fabric, in perfect condition; a fabric in the 18th-century style.
Louis XV period, 18th century.
