"Pierre Bonnet, Limoges Enamel After Koninck "the Gold Weigher""
Pierre Bonnet, Limoges. Superb Limoges enamel after the work of the Dutch painter Salomon Koninck (1609-1656), "The Gold Weigher" (Goudweger, 1654). The artist here perfectly masters the technique of enameling on copper, with superimposed translucent layers that create deep reflections. The subject, inspired by 17th-century Flemish painting, depicts an old man in bourgeois attire counting his gold in the dim light of a window. Beautiful giltwood frame, 47 x 57 cm. Enamel, 24.5 x 34.5 cm.
