Antique Chinese blue and white porcelain covered jar, 19th century, painted in underglaze cobalt blue with a continuous garden scene depicting two boys at play.

The background is decorated with prunus blossoms on a cracked-ice ground, a classic motif symbolising the end of winter and the coming of spring. The domed lid, with matching decoration and ball finial, complements the body design beautifully.

Base with double blue circle.

Height: 27 cm.

Condition: good, with a chip to the underside of the lid as shown.
