Achille D'Orsi, “A Posillipo,” bronze, marble base, signed, late 19th century
Achille D'Orsi “A Posillipo” - bronze sculpture with brown patina on marble base. Signature engraved on the side and stamped Fonderia Artistica Chiurazzi.
The work is supported by a magnificent veined marble column.
The thin and nimble street urchin is the protagonist of Achille D'Orsi's light and pleasant genre subject “A Posillipo.” Crouching on a rock, he holds a fishing trap in his hand and examines its contents. The realism of the pose and expression, but also the simplicity of the theme, have made this work one of the most loved by critics.
The work was presented at the National Exhibition in Turin in 1880.
Dimensions: 110 x 38 x 75 / Marble column H 80 cm
