Antique Bronze Dog & Horse Head Walking Cane, Fox Hunting Theme, C19th
A fine late 19th-century walking cane with a beautifully cast bronze handle depicting a fox-hunting theme — a hound’s head merging into that of a bridled horse with saddle and stirrup. The bronze work is of excellent quality, crisply detailed and richly patinated.
The shaft is of stained rattan, a traditional material prized for its lightness, strength, and flexibility, showing natural age-related wear and colour variation.
A charming and characterful piece evoking the sporting life of the late Victorian or Belle Époque period, French or English, circa 1880–1900.
Condition: good, with patina and surface wear consistent with age and use.
