Large Parma glazed stoneware lamp base by Claude and Cécile Delhaye1970sClaude and Cécile Delhaye, a Belgian ceramicist couple active since the 1960s, created a workshop renowned for its stoneware pieces with simple, sculptural forms. They perfected their skills with masters such as Bernard and David Leach and Antoine de Vinck, whose influence can be seen in their taste for high-fired stoneware, faceted forms, and monochrome glazes inspired by ancient China. Together, they built a rigorous and sensitive body of work, emblematic of the revival of 20th-century Belgian ceramic art. Claude Delhaye was also trained in artistic metalwork, while Cécile Delhaye is also a sculptor, specializing in direct carving.
