Louis XV Writing Desk

An extremely elegant French Louis XV writing desk from the first half of the 18th century. It is masterfully crafted from rosewood and violetwood, two prized woods that lend the piece a refined color contrast and extraordinary grain. Sinuous lines with curved, contoured legs, a profiled top, and a wavy front with three drawers. The rich, finely chiseled mercury gilt bronze decoration on the fittings, handles, escutcheons, and feet lends a refined, dazzling brilliance to the overall piece.
