Austrian Enameled Glass Called Humpen

An enameled glass tankard, probably of 18th-century German or Austrian origin. This blown glass container is a Ritzenhoff Cristal Hannen 1725 Sammler Glas Der Bier Bräuer. This type of tankard is often called a "Humpen." It is very common in glass museums. "Humpen" are cylindrical glass tankards, often decorated with narrative scenes, coats of arms, or inscriptions. The text on the ribbon, " is a phrase in old German dialect Zum Wein wolt wir laufen. Which could mean: we run for the wine or vice versa. The scene depicted shows a woman returning from the fields with a rake, a scene from everyday peasant life. These motifs are signed by the artist but I have not found any details about him. These objects were luxury and prestige items, used for drinking beer or wine, and were often given as gifts.
