Antique Japanese Mixed Metal Bronze Heron Signed Yoshimi (芳美), Meiji Period, C19th
An antique Japanese mixed metal bronze heron signed Yoshimi (芳美), dating from the Meiji period (late 19th century).
Beautifully modelled and cast, the heron stands elegantly with its head turned back and beak resting among its feathers. The sculpture combines bronze with subtle mixed-metal highlights, showing meticulous attention to feather texture and natural form. The piece has a rich, dark patina and a serene, contemplative presence typical of high-quality Meiji metalwork created for export.
Mounted on carved hardwood base with openwork apron.

Condition: good, with minor wear consistent with age; attractive original patina throughout.
