"Automaton Clock Of A Rotating Crystal Water Jet Fountain In The "neo Gothic" Style, Charles X"
Rare and beautiful bronze clock with brown and gold patina in the Neo-Gothic style, this curiosity is a library or desk clock from the beginning of the 19th century from the reign of Charles X. With remarkable chiseling and equally patina, a clever mechanism at its base turns a twisted crystal piece which, with the light, gives the impression of a jet of water, the independent movement at the top under the ornamented arch, with a beautiful chiseled dial gilded with mercury in bright gold, the basin decorated with water leaves in gilded bronze and patinated in the bottom of the niche, the rich basin argued in this "troubadour" style, the feet in winged griffins, the water mouth with a grotto head, the small rosettes on either side gilded in bright gold, the colonades with bases and capitals on either side, all contribute to the wonder of an original piece, unique and neat, very much in the taste of this era when the rich Parisian workshops gave themselves over to the Romantic dream, very much in keeping with the literature....A piece of original quality and very well executed in good condition
