Henriette Herminie Gudin was born in 1825 in Paris. She died on July 14, 1892 in Paris. A student of her father Théodore Gudin, like him, she devoted her painting to maritime scenes. She exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1848, 1849, 1850 and 1853. Upon marrying in 1850, she took the name Fauchier but continued to sign her works with her maiden name until 1864. This delightful painting is enhanced by a beautiful wooden and gilded stucco frame with corners decorated with laurel leaves and acanthus leaves. The dimensions of the painting with the frame are 29.5 cm x 36.5 cm. Henriette Gudin is listed in the "Bénézit". Her works are present in the museums of Avignon, Blois, Bourges and Brest.
