Large Pair Of "musketeer Scenes" Vases Attributed To Jacob Petit In Paris, Circa 1830

Special pair of vases in the pure rocaille spirit. On one side, two musketeer scenes and on the other, flowers on white ground and gold. Green, salmon and blue ground. Scrolls handles and scallop shells. Little birds painted in gold on the green ground on each base. No marks. Great condition.

Size: H 39cm - base is W 22 cm x  P 13 cm

Attributed to the manufactory of Jacob Petit in Paris, circa 1830.

Lit.: Jacob Petit (1796-1868) owned one of the most important and well-known porcelain factories in France, becoming one of the major producers of Rococo ornamental ware during the 1830s. At the 1834 Paris Exhibition, the work of Petit showed his genius for inventing numerous and varied new shapes, revolutionizing the porcelain industry. He was imitated throughout Europe and his name was given to a Rococo Revival style that reflected the many different influences on Petit’s designs.
