Painting, oil on canvas, representing a young woman at her toilet, from behind and naked, in front of her mirror. Signed lower left: A Bonnardel. Bears a label on the back from the Lyonnaise des Beaux-Arts society including the title of the work: Le collier de Jade. A small HC (out of competition) label appears on the front of the frame. Original Montparnasse frame. without frame 74 x 61 with frame 95 x 82 Alexandre François Alexandre Bonnardel (1867-1942) Genre painter, nudes, portraits, landscapes, still lifes and flowers. Entered the Lyon School of Fine Arts in 1891 and exhibited at the Salon de Lyon the same year. He was a student of Jean Baptiste Poncet, whose teaching of conscientious drawing simply dressed in color he would keep for a long time. JF Bonnardel obtained a first medal in 1893 then in 1899. From 1900, he became a class teacher of life models at the Lyon School of Fine Arts. Faithful to his master, he taught precision in drawing and measure in execution. Exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1904 and received a mention in 1909. He finally received a gold medal in 1926 at the Lyon Salon. He remained secretary of the Lyon Society of Fine Arts until 1926. Jean François Bonnardel transcribed genre scenes with excellence, particularly in the rendering of fabrics.
