"Costes Armchair By Philippe Starck For Driade, Circa 1984"
Costes armchair with a black lacquered tubular steel frame, a mahogany-finished bent plywood shell, and a fixed foam-filled cushion covered in black leather. Designed in the 1980s for the Café Costes in Paris, it was designed to make the staff's work easier, with only three legs allowing for easier cleaning and better circulation for servers.
Seat height: 47 cm.
Edition: Aleph Driade, circa 1984. Bibliography: "1000 Chairs", Charlotte and Peter Fiell, Taschen Editions, 2005, similar model reproduced in color p. 508.
