It is black lacquered and decorated with polychrome and gilded chinoiserie, depicting animated landscapes, pagodas, figures, and stylized vegetation. The scenes are enhanced with mother-of-pearl motifs, providing subtle iridescent reflections. The sides feature similar decorations in the same spirit. The gilded bronzes are finely chiseled: falls, handles, keyholes, and sabots. The chest of drawers is topped with molded sea green marble.
