Charles Le Bozec (1898 - 1973):
Jules-Charles Le Bozec is the youngest of a family of seven children whose father, a merchant, died shortly before his birth. He is a true artist with a solid training. In 1920, he entered the Beaux-Arts in Rennes where he attended the workshops of Roncin, Bourget and Collet. Then in 1924, he joined the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris. A student of Jean Boucher, he then rubbed shoulders with Georges Robin then Creston, and Robert Yan. He also participated that same year in an exhibition on "Brittany in Paris". In 1925, he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes français and created the costumes and sets for a show organized by the Celtic circle of Paris. In 1928, he was awarded a medal by the Salon des Artistes Français. This was also the year he married Marie Dauvert. He left Paris the following year for Mellionec: a return to his roots. He won the Prix de Rome for sculpture in 1931 and also the silver medal at the Salon des Artistes Français that same year. He collaborated in the 1930s and 1940s with the Manufacture HB, for whom he produced around fifteen works.
