A student of Isidore Opsomer and Albert Ciamberlani, he participated in several major public decorative projects before devoting himself to easel painting. In our Sunrise, Verheyen deploys a subtle palette, dominated by the diffuse light of the early hours. Through a delicate play of transparencies and muted touches, he translates the breathing of the landscape at the moment when the nascent clarity dissolves the night.
