Schoolchildren's Sculpture In Spelter With Brown Patina "saute-mouton" - Signed Ferville Suan - Circa 1900
Charming brown patinated spelter sculpture depicting two young schoolchildren playing leapfrog. A work full of movement and tenderness, typical of the naturalistic and touching style of Ferville-Suan (1843-1925). The group rests on a circular onyx base slightly tinted green. Very beautiful facial expression and careful rendering of the details of the school clothes and accessories (schoolbag placed on the ground). Signature: Ferville Suan, on the terrace. Material: brown patinated spelter. Height: 20 cm. Base diameter: 10 cm. Condition: very good condition. Decorative and poetic work illustrating the sweetness of childhood in a typically late 19th century style. A charming piece for collectors or lovers of sentimental sculptures.
