The white mask is an element that can be found in other still lifes by Maurice Asselin, for example a Still Life with Mask and Pipe, which I had the opportunity to present here and which I sold. This object seems to have particularly fascinated him. As he shows here, its whiteness makes it particularly suitable as a "piece of paint".
