Antique Cane From "antoine Palais Royal Paris", Porcelain Knob
Rare cane signed by the famous Antoine house. The Antoine house founded in 1745 is still present in Paris today. Established in 1745 on the Pont Neuf then in the Palais Royal district until the 19th century, it moved to Avenue de l'Opéra during the Second Empire. The cane presented here dates from the 19th century. This type of porcelain knob was originally created in the 18th century, and came back into fashion in the 19th century. We find in the inventories this model in the shape of a woman's head covered with a hat and a scarf tied under the chin which would have been created in 1786 then reproduced in the 19th century. Reference: Catherine Dike and Guy Bezzaz, La canne Objet d'Art, les éditions de l'Amateur, chapter 13, Plate 25. The shaft is made of rush. The ferrule is made of metal. The entire cane measures 35,04 inches.
