A student of Mathurin Moreau, Henri Plé exhibited at the Salon from 1877. His work, very varied, includes portraits, bas-reliefs, as well as mythological, historical and orientalist figures.
An eclectic artist, he easily blends mythology, history and orientalism, depicting both powerful male characters and feminine figures full of grace and seduction. His style is part of the great academic tradition of French sculpture, while integrating certain decorative influences of the end of the 19th century and of Art Nouveau.
David the Winner, bronze proof with brown patina, signed "H. Plé", mounted on a marble base (damaged).
Total height: 27 cm (sculpture alone: 23.5 cm).
