Blackened and hammered steel, partially damascened with gold and alloy rivets

A piece of equestrian armor, the chanfer protects the front of the horse's head. It could be decorated with a shield indicating the identity and rank of the rider. The medallion is engraved with Arabic calligraphy mentioning Allah and other invocations and religious formulas, probably Koranic verses or protective prayers, which often accompanied Islamic military objects to encourage divine protection.
The upper part of the noseband is finely engraved with flowers and foliage, while the edges are decorated with riveted brass bands.
On a custom-made bronze base.
Very good condition.
