""the Painter In His Studio" Joseph Huvey"
Joseph Huvey was born in 1844 in Chavanoz, Isère. He died in Lyon in 1919. Born to a father who was a factory worker and a mother who was a housewife, his taste for drawing led him to the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon, which he entered in 1872. He regularly exhibited landscapes in Lyon, especially mountain landscapes. His paintings always bear the mark of meticulous execution. This intimate and rare work shows him in his studio contemplating one of his paintings. It is enhanced by a wooden and gilded stucco frame decorated with laurel leaves and acanthus leaves. With its frame, the painting measures 53.5 cm x 43.5 cm. Joseph Huvey is listed in the "Bénézit".
