In 1901, he entered the Beaux-Arts in Toulouse where he obtained several distinctions, then continued his training in Paris in 1904. He was part of the Atelier Falguière and Marcié from 1905 and also followed the teaching of Bourdelle and Rodin in their respective workshops. After 1919, he moved to Paris, then stayed in Lisbon and began a long relationship with Carlotta Syder, whom he followed to Brazil in the 1950s. He divided his life between Portugal and Brazil.
