"17th Century Wrought Iron 3-branch Fireplace Rack"
Rare 3-branch fireplace rack in its original condition, perhaps 16th century, fixed in the fireplace on a rod planted across the bottom in front of the fireplace. This could be moved closer to or further away from the fireback. A large pot hung from the central hook and 2 other utensils (scoop and small cauldron) hung on the 2 less hot sides. The height on the rack allowed the adjustment of the heat required by many objects in the hearth in stock... firedogs, andirons, plate, grill, bed warmer, andriere, fire hand, etc.
