Spring or crouching Flora by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (1821-1875). Late 19th-early 20th century. Terracotta sculpture depicting a crouching Flora, preparing her hair. Commissioned by Napoleon III (1864) for the decoration of the facade of the Pavillon de Flore at the Louvre Palace (part of the Triumph of Flora ensemble). Patina light brown and has been restored to the base and hair. Very good condition. Edition and stamp of "Susses Frères éditions" in terracotta and signed on the base "JB Carpeaux".
