PASQUIER (Estienne) - The research of France by Estienne Pasquier, advisor and general advocate of the king in the chamber of accounts of Paris. Paris, Chez Laurent Sonnius, 1621; folio, 16 ppnch + 1019 pp. + table of contents of approximately 40 pages, full calf binding of the time, spine with 6 raised bands, marbled edges, old restorations, provide for consolidation of the joints between the raised band and the headpiece at the end of the volume. New edition expanded by 3 chapters and augmented in places by annotations taken from the author's library. Etienne Pasquier draws on ancient chroniclers, he goes back the history of France to the Romans. This method of research is considered a precursor and source of the modern history of France.
