This necklace is made of chrome on alloy, with pale green enameled wings.
Chrome was "a defining element of the Art Deco era." The chain is extremely long and depending on your neckline can be doubled around your neck or worn long. Can be shortened if you prefer. The clasp is not original to the piece.
This design illustrates the boldness and avant-garde design of Art Deco jewellery of the time. The inspiration comes from Egyptian motifs such as the Scarab after the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in the 1920s.
At this time, new materials were being discovered and used, such as Platinum, Chrome plating, Bakelite etc.
People were celebrating and change was inevitable after the First World War. Hair was bobbed and short. Dresses were shorter and the jewelry was bold and different.
