Antonio CABA CASAMITJANA (Barcelona, February 10, 1838 – Barcelona, January 25, 1907) He was one of the Catalan painters of the second half of the 19th century, a sought-after portraitist and influential teacher. He studied at the Escola de la Llotja (Barcelona School of Fine Arts), then perfected his skills in Madrid with Federico de Madrazo, a great court portraitist. He also went to Paris, where he observed French academic painting and immersed himself in the refinement of society portraits. Back in Barcelona, he quickly established himself as one of the great portraitists of the Catalan bourgeoisie and the cultural elite of the time. Note: accidents
