"Igor Mitoraj (1944-2014) “perseus” "
Igor Mitoraj (1944-2014) "Perseus" Bronze with green patina - Travertine pedestal Signed lower right, numbered on the back 360/1000 HC Perfect condition - Height 38 cm, with base 48 cm This work represents a monumental male torso, fragmented and deliberately incomplete, without head or arms, in the continuity of the artistic language specific to Igor Mitoraj. The Polish sculptor, deeply influenced by ancient statuary, draws his inspiration from the Greco-Roman tradition while giving it a contemporary dimension: the smooth and idealized surfaces of the body are interrupted by cuts, cracks and incisions that evoke fragility, memory and the human condition.
