Jacqueline & Tim Orr, Porcelain Lamp Base, Circa 1960
Imposing porcelain lamp base, signed. Tim and Jacqueline Orr are a couple of artisan ceramicists, they create unique ceramic pieces, combining craftsmanship and artistic sensitivity. Their approach, both meticulous and bold, gives birth to works that captivate with their elegance and singularity.
Tim, often inspired by organic forms and natural textures, brings a sculptural dimension to their creations. Jacqueline, for her part, infuses them with a touch of poetry and softness, playing with colors and glazes to sublimate each piece.
Tim was born in 1940 in England. He moved to France in 1960 to Biot near Antibes with Jacqueline. They were among the first to work with porcelain on an artistic level. In this context, Tim continues to give workshops on certain facets of clay sculpture. Their work has resulted in several large mural works (among others, the port of Cavalaire in the Var), a series of 4 large sculptures for the Lapeyronie hospital in Montpellier, large pieces for public spaces and commissions from private collectors.
