Very beautiful bronze with brown patina representing Venus in love...Signature on the terrace "M.Moreau" End of the 19th century Mathurin Moreau born in Dijon on November 18, 1822 and died in Paris on February 14, 1912. Admitted to the School of Fine Arts in Paris in 1841 in the workshops of Jules Ramey and Auguste Dumont. He won the second prize of Rome in 1842 with "Diodemus removing the palladium". He debuted at the Salons of French Artists in 1848 and was noticed there with the statue "L'élégie". Second class medal at the Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1855, then a first class medal in 1878. And he was finally crowned with a medal of honor at the Salon of which he became a member of the jury during the Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1900 .
