This painting depicts the head of Christ crowned with thorns, known as Ecce Home (Behold the Man). The composition was celebrated, first used by Albrecht Bouts and the painting probably dates from the middle of the 16th century. Interesting piece, the paint layer covered by discoloured old varnish, and some small blisters and damages to painting and frame. Would benefit from a restoration, which will reveal the original colouring.
