Antique Brass Seal Stamp – National Mint of the Netherlands (c. 1815–1830)
A rare and historically significant official seal stamp from the early 19th century, used by the National Mint of the Netherlands (Monnaie Nationale des Pays-Bas).
Material: Solid brass with turned handle
Maker’s mark: Jehotte à Liège – renowned Belgian engravers and medalists active in the early 1800s
Design: The face shows the crowned Dutch national coat of arms, flanked by two lions, with the motto “Je Maintiendrai” in scrollwork below. Surrounding text (in French) reads “MONNAIE NATIONALE DES PAYS-BAS”.
Dimensions: heigth 11.4 cm, diameter seal 3.5 cm
Date: Circa 1815–1830, during the period of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands
Function: Used to seal official documents with wax, leaving a raised impression of the arms and inscription
Condition: Good antique condition with age-related wear and patina consistent with its use. Crisp details remain visible on the seal face.
