Clovis-Frédéric Terraire, (1858-1931), french painter, mainly known for his landscapes and genre scenes. Born in Lyon, he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in his hometown before continuing his training in Paris. Terraire specialized in the depiction of natural landscapes, often inspired by the Lyon region and the Alps. His style, influenced by realism and the Barbizon school, is characterized by meticulous attention to detail and a soft, harmonious color palette.
His works, exhibited in various Parisian salons, were appreciated for their ability to capture the light and atmosphere of landscapes. Terraire also painted rural scenes and portraits, but it is his landscapes that have left their mark on his artistic legacy. A member of the Salon des Artistes Français in 1905, he was awarded the Prix Rosa Bonheur at the 1927 salon.
