Short biography of the artist: Albert De Deken (1915, Schoten – 2003, Kapellen) is a Belgian painter, draftsman and watercolorist. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and at the Grande Chaumière in Paris. His work covers various genres: portraits, nudes, interiors, landscapes and still lifes. His painting, marked by the influence of Fauvism and Expressionism, is characterized by a vivid palette and a spontaneous touch. His works are featured in private and public collections, notably at the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
