Very good condition Aristide Vincenzo Antonio De Ranieri (1865-1954) was an Italian sculptor born in Carrara, at the heart of the marble tradition. Coming from a family of marble workers, he trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Carrara before settling in Paris, where he opened his studio. His style was initially part of the Art Nouveau movement, with elegant and decorative works, often inspired by nature and the female figure. He exhibited regularly in Parisian salons and received an honorable mention in 1899. After the First World War, he turned to more academic statuary and participated in the creation of commemorative monuments. His career illustrates the transition from fin-de-siècle ornamentalism to a more sober expression of the 20th century. He died in Paris in 1954, leaving a varied body of work in marble, bronze, and terracotta.
