"Japanese Lacquer Vase Tsuishu Plum Blossoms - Japan"
A thin-necked ball vase in lacquered wood using the tsuishu technique, decorated with a plum tree in bloom. Multiple layers of lacquer in different colors are applied, and the decoration is created by sculpting the lacquer and revealing the lower layers. A very fine lacquering job requiring perfect mastery. The piece is signed underneath. Artist: Yoshio Fujii, born in 1940. Japan, circa 1980, 17 x 16 cm. With its original box signed by the artist.
