"Japanese Lacquer Butterfly Obidome - Japan"
Obidome, obi (kimono belt) jewel, in lacquered wood with a stylized spangle decoration reminiscent of a "mon" (family crest). The background is in gindame lacquer, very fine silver powder mixed with lacquer, giving the impression of metal. The butterfly is in gold and red makie lacquer. Very beautiful quality of lacquer. Signature on the back of Tsukizan, famous lacquer artist from Wajima. This piece can be used as a pendant. Japan, circa 1970, 3.8 x 0.8 cm.
