Charles Théophile DEMORY 1833-1895, Saint Etienne portal Notre Dame de Paris the exit from the palm mass, oil on canvas signed lower right, wooden frame and gilded stucco of the time, dim: 148cmx113cm The portal of the south transept pays homage to Stephen, the first Christian martyr. It evokes the name of the first cathedral church of Paris. Built in the 13th century, it was largely restored in the 19th century, what is interesting is that in our representation the missing statues of the apostles have not yet been replaced so we are before 1864.
