Rare 18th Century Leather Box For Jewelry Or Makeup. Louis XVI Period.

Rare 18th century leather box, in remarkable condition, composed inside of 6 cylindrical spaces of 3.5 cm in diameter and 3.5 cm in height. The interior is originally lined with a pale pink velvet both for the round spaces and for the interior flat. Decor enriched with an original fine silver braid.
The central decoration of the top is struck with a rich motif of stylized fleur-de-lis, motif enriched with a floral parterre and fine intertwined stars, in a reserve composed in the upper circumference of a ribbon struck with shells, crowns and flowers; at the 4 corners a pomegranate each lets escape a very beautiful acanthus leaf; on the outside in circumference is the same floral ribbon on which are interspersed shells and crowns.
Leather in excellent condition.
The gilding of the motifs at the top is still present although weakened but still gives a beautiful relief. Only the circumferential ribbon on the 4 sides has lost its gilding. The closing hooks are original. Below are 4 small original brass spires.
