Rare Pair Of Italian Console Tables Greek Porphyry Top

A fine pair of four-legged giltwood console tables from the late first half of the 18th century with Greek porphyry tops.

Its curved apron on three sides is richly carved with openwork palmettes, flowers, and leafy scrolls.
It is supported by four legs with a wide rocaille decoration of flowering foliage and scrolls, which end in inner scrolled feet.
They are themselves connected by a rocaille crossbar, richly carved with flowers and palmettes.

This pair of very strongly shaped Italian console tables is unique due to its top veneered entirely with Greek porphyry (a rare green porphyry) and surrounded by a molded border of yellow Siena marble.
Their height, slightly greater than average, the use of porphyry, and their duality make them pieces of furniture of very high quality.
