He retained a holy horror of the divine comedy of dogmas and "isms". In his collages, the cult servants are grotesque, depicted with "pince-nez over their hearts." Jacques Prévert built his reputation as a visual artist around his splendid surrealist collages, tinged with poetry, which have been the subject of several exhibitions, notably at the Maeght Foundation in Saint Paul de Vence.
