Aragon organizes the speech on behalf of the deportees, of the writer and former deportee Jean Cayrol, during the congress of French thought in the service of peace: “Dear J.C. I am waiting for you. Here is the 40% permit, we will reimburse you 50% on the other hand. So I expect you to take the floor: five typed pages, ten minutes, like everyone else. There will be two of you (the other is Martin Chauffier) speaking for the deportees. Come see me as soon as you arrive (33 rue St André des Arts, Odéon 72-61) so that we can see how things work out…”
