PAIR OF ANDIRON in gilt bronze decorated with fire pots, drapes and a garland of flowers, carried by two twisted feet, signed on the back "B & C" for Bouhon et compagnie. Louis XVI style, 19th century The house "Bouhon & Cie", founded by Mr. Bouhon in 1871, at 12 rue de Belleyme in Paris, specialized in bronze fireplace decorations and fireplace accessories. It was sold by the widow Bouhon to her sons Thomas and Joseph Bouhon, on September 20, 1898, and the company name became "Bouhon Frères". The house was renowned, it participated in numerous exhibitions and was awarded a gold medal at the one in Brussels in 1897. It ceased its activity in 1920 and the collection was dispersed at auction during two sales.
