Sculpture of a young girl with baskets. Bronze with a golden patina by Joseph Cheret. Assistant to Carrier-Belleuse, exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1863. Worked for Christofle in Paris, and for Maison Emballer in Vienna. Director of the Sèvres factory. Exhibited at the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts from 1891 and became a member in 1894. Considered a precursor of Art Nouveau. Signed Joseph Cheret and numbered 16. Foundry mark Eugène Soleau Paris. On a red griotte marble base.
