Affortunato Gory, Bronze Art Deco Woman, "malabarista" - Juggling
Affortunato GORY, Italian sculptor active from 1895 to 1925, the year he died in Paris. He studied sculpture in Florence at the Academy under Auguste RIVALTA and, like many Italian artists, emigrated to Paris at the beginning of the 20th century. He changed his name from Fortunato Gori to Affortunato Gory and began exhibiting at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1902 with a bronze and marble bust of a woman. He presented his works there until 1923. Gory owes his success to his female sculptures of grace as well as to the combined use of bronze and marble, alabaster or ivory. *“Malabarista”, malabarist, juggler, juggling.
