The bronze statue of Apoxyomenos adorned the Baths of Agrippa. A marble version was discovered in 1849 in Rome in Vicolo delle Palme, which was immediately renamed Vicolo dell'Atleto.The work was immediately exhibited in the Vatican Museums.
