Victorian Sardonyx Long Earrings In 18k Gold, Black Earrings, Mourning Long Earrings
Victorian sardonyx long earrings in 18 karat gold. Dangling earrings adorned with large drops of almost black brown agate, crossed by a white zone. Each drop is suspended from a sleeper decorated with a circular motif, centered with an onyx plaque and enhanced with a half-pearl. This type of earring was very fashionable in the 19th century and was often worn when women were going through a period of mourning. Antique earrings, circa 1880, France.
